“2018 has concluded as a strong year for lettings in Lanarkshire with houses in short supply, but high demand. Compliance issues, higher taxes and mortgage availability for portfolio landlords continue to lessen investor’s appetite for growth. The extra 1% on the Additional Dwelling Supplement, taking it to 4%, will act as a further deterrent on new BTL purchases. However, for those prepared to weather the storm there are plenty of tenants who continue to choose the PRS as their sector and given the right property they will become excellent long-term customers.”
