Living in Ruchazie

The north-eastern suburbs of Glasgow are home to a diverse variety of neighbourhoods, and Ruchazie is one of the more popular. Recent regeneration projects have helped to modernise the area, and as a result of these schemes there is now a tempting selection of properties to choose from, including everything from cosy apartments to large town houses which are suitable for families.

Getting into and out of the centre of Glasgow is easy from here thanks to the proximity of the M8 motorway which runs just to the south of Ruchazie. To the north, the M80 also offers an excellent route into the metropolis, and to links to the rest of Scotland's motorway network. Junction 11 of the M8 and junction 2 of the M80 are the nearest access points.

While Ruchazie doesn't have its own railway station, there are stations nearby which are within easy reach. They include Carntyne, Shettleston and Garrowhill to the south, Stepps to the north and, to the west, both Alexandra Parade and Barnhill. Several bus routes pass through the area, including the number 38, which offers affordable transport to the centre of Glasgow.

Plenty of school choices for parents

There are several schools to be found here, so it's a good area for parents who are currently on the lookout for houses to rent in Glasgow. They include Avenue End Primary on Mossvale Road, St Mungo's Primary in Parson Street and Saint Rose of Lima which is also in Mossvale Road. Older pupils will often attend Ashcraig Secondary in Avenue End Road.

A number of excellent hospitals are within easy reach of the residents of Ruchazie. The nearest is Lightburn Hospital to the south, while Stobhill Hospital to the north-west is also close by. A little further to west you'll find Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Many of the neighbourhood's locals will be registered for primary healthcare at the Gilbertfield Medical Centre on Gilbertfield Street.

With such a wide choice of flats to rent in Glasgow, many potential tenants will want to explore prices before making a decision. The good news for those who look into Ruchazie is that rents here are surprisingly affordable. While it's a little further away from the centre than some other areas, it's worth noting that the daily train commute from Carntyne to Glasgow Queen Street takes only eight minutes.

Get away from it all with Mother Nature

One of the major benefits of living in Rutherglen, Ruchazie and many other suburbs is that you're never too far from some attractive countryside. Hogganfield Park, just to the north and west of Ruchazie, is an oasis of tranquillity in the heart of a buzzing city, and it offers locals an opportunity to try their hand at a number of activities, including cycling, jogging and birdwatching.

To the east of the neighbourhood lies the popular Auchinlea Park, which plays host to extensive gardens, an attractive pond and a play area for children. The highly rated Seven Locks Wetland Park is also nearby, and when it's completed it will offer 20 square kilometres of idyllic countryside with a number of impressive features. It's reassuring to know that it's so easy to get away from it all when you live in areas like Ruchazie.

The suburbs to the east of the city have been getting ever more popular in recent years, and Ruchazie is the perfect example of the type of neighbourhood that has something to suit all tastes.
