Living in Langside
A popular residential neighbourhood to the south of the River Clyde, Langside is an area that all cross-sections of the population should consider. It's within easy reach of everything that central Glasgow has to offer, yet it retains a unique character all of its own. It has an impressive history, having been the site of the Battle of Langside, which involved Mary Queen of Scots back in 1568.
These days, of course, life is much more serene in and around Langside. There are a number of excellent parks and open spaces to be enjoyed here, including Queen's Park just to the north. Here you'll find a wonderful selection of urban wildlife as well as a popular boating pond. Just to the west of Langside lies the enormous Pollok Country Park, where you can visit the iconic Pollok House and Garden and Priesthill.
One of the major plus points of living in King's Park, Battlefield and Langside is the ease of the daily commute for those who work in the city centre. There are direct trains to Glasgow Central, with journey times around the 15-minute mark from Langside station. Located in Langside Drive, the station operates on the Cathcart Circle Line.
Motorists can use the main A77 road to get into the city to the north or, if they venture south, to head towards Kilmarnock and Stranraer. It's also easy to link up with Scotland's motorway network via the M74 to the north and the M77 to the west. Getting to and from just about anywhere is easy in this part of the city, which is good news for motorists who are looking for houses to rent in Glasgow.
You'll find several excellent jogging routes in and around Langside, including some which offer views of the picturesque White Cart Water, part of the River Cart which is a tributary of the Clyde. Queen's Park is also close by, and a little to the south lies the magnificent Dams to Darnley Country Park, a new facility that is found on the Glasgow border with East Renfrewshire.
