Richard Webb, Director of Mill Architects joins Lets Talk host, Gillian Semmler for episode 53 to give advice on different styles of property conversions, from attic space to basements as well as commercial to residential.

Developing a property provides great potential to maximise yields and increase property value. Richard set up Mill Architects with Chris Duncan in 2004 and have worked on a wide range of projects over the years, from residential and commercial to rural and conservation.

Richard also shares helpful advice on property ownership and title deeds in relation to conversions of attic, basement and garden space. He also talks about permissions such as building warrants, conversions that may need a structural engineer and aspects to be considered when working with a listed building.

Ground floor owners can consider the basement

Like attic space, basement conversions can double the floor space of a property. Richard highlights the importance of early investigation works for this type of project and complications that can arise.

As well as chatting about different ways to change the layout of existing floor space to create an additional bedroom, Richard describes some of Mill Architect’s previous projects that they have worked on as well as his most captivating conversion.
