Managing Director of R J Building Surveying Ltd, Brian Geddes, features on episode 79 of Lets Talk to discuss why there is an ever increasing requirement to regularly inspect and maintain properties.
Brian explains in detail the role of a Building Surveyor and the areas of expertise that his company cover. He tells of his career to date and the driving factors for setting up RJ Building Surveying.
Brian uses the analogy of regularly maintaining a car and performing yearly checks, yet landlords and home owners often neglect their most valuable asset, a property, leading to significant repairs and costs down the line.

Annual maintenance
Brian describes a typical report provided by a Building Surveyor and how it differs from a Home Report, (which doesn’t include an actual inspection of the roof), as well as how it can benefit buyers and sellers alike, and prevent unnecessary costs to owners.
Gillian asks if any of these issues would be covered by a typical buildings insurance and also about concerning scenarios that Brian has witnessed from sheer neglect of a building.
