Edinburgh based Watt Property’s founder, Angela Watt, joins Lets Talk for episode 78.
The business was established in 1997, however Angela has over 30 years of property experience and talks about her career journey prior to setting up Watt Property, as well as the challenges involved in starting her own agency.
Host, Gillian Semmler, asks Angela about the regulations due to be enforced from March 2024 regarding lead in drinking water. They discuss the main causes of this, which buildings are most likely to be at risk and the details of the new regulations.
Strained residential rental market
With the quarter 3 rental market being quite strained, Gillian asks Angela about her experience of Edinburgh’s private rented sector, including average monthly rents for the capital, which property size recorded the highest increase in rent and also the valuation tool, powered by Citylets, that Watt Property rely on.
Watt property offer a variety of services to their clients including ones for presentation and refurbishment and Angela explains how it’s more difficult to be objective of your own property and why it’s helpful to have someone independent to give advice. She also discusses the ways in which Watt Property can assist with general presentation, and the advice that they can give in relation to aspects of a property that they think a landlord should consider for renovation or refurbishment.
Watt Property were finalists in the 2023 Scottish Home Awards and Angela talks about their level of service to their clients, and what it means to herself and the team to reach the finals stages.
